Downloading and installing Adobe Reader DC

Adobe Reader DC is free software you can use to view PDF (Portable Document Format) files. Many companies and institutions use the PDF format to make information available over the Internet. You can open and read PDF files directly from the Internet, or you can download them and save them to your computer. In either case, you will need the program Adobe Reader. On this webpage, you can read how to download and install the program Adobe Reader DC.

Version DC of Adobe Reader is suitable for Windows 10, 8.1 and 7. You can also follow the intructions below if you are working with Windows Vista. However Adobe Reader X will then be installed.

You may want to print this webpage first. Keep the pages by your keyboard as you follow the steps below.

Open Edge or Internet Explorer and go to the Adobe website

In this example we will not install other programs or toolbars:

Uncheck the options to prevent toolbars from being downloaded.
Click to install now
You will see the Run window

Now the screen will turn dark. You will see a window in which you need to give permission to continue.

Click Yes
Download in progress
Installation completed

Adobe Reader has been downloaded and is now installed on your computer. You will see a new icon on your desktop.

Close all open windows
