I am a senior and I have never worked on a computer. What is the best book for me to start with?
First determine which version of Windows is installed on your computer:

- Windows XP

I am a senior and have already finished a beginners book. I want to learn more. Which book is best for me?
If you have a basic understanding of the computer you can further your skills by choosing one of the following books:

Can I use a book about Windows XP on a computer with Windows 98?
I would advise not using the following books with Windows 98. The two versions of Windows are very different from one another.

I am having trouble learning to use the computer mouse. What can I do?
Getting used to working with the mouse is a question of practice, practice, practice. Make sure your mouse has been correctly configured. See Chapter 11 in Windows XP for Seniors. Consider replacing your computer mouse with a newer model. There have been recent ergonomic improvements in design helping to reduce the risk of injury and discomfort.
I have used a book from Addo Stuur which utilises the Visual Steps-method and it suits me fine. Are the other books written in the same handy step by step manner?
Yes, every Visual Steps book follows the same step by step manner.
If you have tried one book, you know exactly what to expect in any of the other books. If this method suits your needs you can select any of the Visual Steps books without hesitation.
If you already have basic Windows-skills, you will be able to work through any of the other available Visual Steps books.
Each book is written for the user who has no previous knowledge of the specific program or application. With each book you learn the particular functions of the program in an easy step by step manner.
How will I know if a particular book is right for me?

If you have completed this book you will have enough technical knowhow to use any of the other books from Visual Steps.
In the foreword of each book, I always mention if there is any previous knowledge necessary before starting the book.

How can I find out if a book will interest me?
Our website features detailed descriptions of each book that we offer. Thus it is easy to find out if a particular book suits your needs. In addition, for each book we have made the following downloads available:

I follow each step as written in the book but something else appears on the screen. How is this possible? What should I do?
We try our best to present each step correctly. However, it is possible that the program you are working with has a different configuraton which can cause other results. Our books are written utilizing the standard installation of the specific program discussed.
Usually, you can still perform the excerise even when the computer screen shows something different. If not, skip this step and go to the next one.
I think I have discovered a mistake in a book. What should I
do?
Together with our editors, we try our best to avoid mistakes. Every book
is heavily tested. But it is always possible that a particular step is
skipped or an image is not correct.
